What we build in Castle Rock

One crew for the whole backyard.

Most Castle Rock homes need more than one thing, a deck and a fence, a patio cover and new siding. We do all of it, so you're not chasing five different contractors.

Built for Castle Rock

Up here, the ground and the sky fight your backyard. We build for both.

Castle Rock sits at about 6,200 feet, on clay that swells up when it gets wet, under strong mountain sun and big summer hail. Whatever we build for you, deck, fence, or cover, we build it for that.

Clay that lifts things

The Colorado Geological Survey says swelling clay can grow 10 percent or more when it gets wet, enough to push a deck or fence post up out of the ground. We dig the posts down deep to solid ground so a wet spring can't lift them.

Snow and freeze-thaw

We size every frame for Castle Rock snow, 35 to 40 pounds per square foot under town code, and for the way it freezes cold at night and thaws by day. That back-and-forth slowly loosens anything built for warmer places.

Right in Hail Alley

Douglas County logged 204 hail events from 1950 to 2024, and a June 2023 storm dropped hail up to 2.5 inches in Castle Rock. We use tougher boards and siding and build covered decks for folks tired of fixing the damage.

Permits and HOA approval

Inside town limits, decks need a town permit, and we pull it online. Out in Bell Mountain Ranch or Keene Ranch it's a Douglas County permit instead. The Village at Castle Pines has Castle Rock addresses but sits in unincorporated Douglas County, so it's a county permit plus the Village design review.

What we see in Castle Rock yards

The Castle Rock calls all start to rhyme.

After a few hundred Front Range builds, the requests from this town are predictable in the best way. Odds are yours is on this list, and we've already solved it.

Decks for walkout lots

On a walkout lot, the main floor sits a full story above the backyard. We build decks that step down, level by level, to the yard, not one tall deck with a long flight of stairs.

Fences that hold in the wind

Douglas County has logged 177 high-wind events since 1950, and the wind takes down a cheap fence fast. We set the posts deep in solid ground and build them to stand, even the neighbor ends up happy.

Covers for the hail and sun

If you've patched a deck or a roof after a Castle Rock storm, you're not alone. We build covered decks and pergolas so you get shade in the summer and a roof over your head when the hail comes.

Saving the view

On the hilltop lots, the whole reason you bought the house is the view, from Pikes Peak in the south to Longs Peak in the north. We use thin cable or metal railing so the railing almost disappears, and the view doesn't.

Gated & design-review builds

In The Village at Castle Pines, the design review has to approve decks, patio covers and other outside changes before work starts. Other neighborhoods have their own HOA or metro district rules, so we check yours first and handle the paperwork for you.

The whole backyard at once

A lot of folks here want a deck, a fence, and maybe new siding all together. One crew, one schedule, one bill, and it all matches when we're done.

Castle Rock questions

What homeowners ask us.

What do you build in Castle Rock?
Decks, fences, pergolas, patio covers, full outdoor-living spaces, and siding. We're a family-owned crew, and the owners, Jon and Janessa Lang, are on every job.
Do I need a permit in Castle Rock?
Decks and covered patios need a town permit, and your contractor has to be registered with the town's building office (720-733-3527). A fence up to 6 feet tall doesn't need one, and in the front yard the limit is 4 feet. We pull the permit online for you. Out in Bell Mountain Ranch or Keene Ranch it's a Douglas County permit instead.
Does my HOA have to approve it?
In a lot of Castle Rock neighborhoods, yes. The Village at Castle Pines has its own design review, and many other neighborhoods have an HOA or metro district with rules. We check yours first and fill out the paperwork for you.
How do you handle the clay and the weather?
The clay under Castle Rock swells up when it gets wet, so we dig the posts down deep to solid ground. For the strong sun and hail at 6,200 feet, we use tougher composite and siding that won't fade or crack.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, we're licensed, insured, and BBB Accredited. License details come with your written estimate.
How fast can you start?
It depends on the season and the permit, but you get a real schedule up front and a crew that shows up when we said. That on-time part is behind a lot of our reviews.
